Welcome to Jasmine Alexa’s ‘This is me’ interview series. Can you please introduce yourself and tell us a little bit about what you do? Hello! My name is Sarah -I am a Pilates instructor and nutrition student from Sydney. I also
make yummy , healthy recipe content.

What do you love most about what you do? I love that I get to make a positive difference to someone every time I am working such as offering nutrition advice, sharing how to make a healthy yummy meal or lift people’s mood and make them feel stronger after a workout. I also love that I am constantly learning in my job.

What do you find most challenging: Finding balance ! I get so excited about everything I do I easily overload myself which can sometimes leave me feeling chaotic and makes it harder to concentrate ! I also think in this industry it is challenging to always believe in your own strengths as there is so much competition out there.

Tell us about your health and wellness routine: I very much believe health and wellness is holistic which means honouring your mental and emotional health as well as your physical ! I am someone who has always been quite anxious so I need to make sure I set aside time for myself to reset such as walking the dog or going for a swim even after a long day. I love movement as a way to de stress and boost my mood as well but listen to my body each day based on my energy and cycle and try to move in a way that honours me. I believe having balance is so important, with your diet as well. I eat whole , nutritious foods because I know they make me feel my best but also sometimes chocolate and ice cream to feed my soul!

What does self-care mean to you? To me self care is honouring and respecting what your body needs, not anyone else’s. Really tuning in to your own body’s signals and gut feeling and paying attention to your emotional and physical energy. Placing boundaries is super important to look after your own self!

What is something you would tell your 16 year old self? Don’t be afraid to do what you love or of failure. This worst thing that will happen is you get a no or something doesn’t work out the way you plan so you just reflect on why and try again !

What’s next for you, do you have anything exciting coming up that you want to share? I am super excited to be graduating in September and start practising as a clinical nutritionist and start seeing my own clients ! I am also hosting my first health retreat in south coast of Sydney in October which I am SO excited for !
