AT HOME WITH ANDIE PINEDA
APRIL 09, 2020
Intro words by Jasmine Gescheit
Our ongoing ‘JA At Home Series’ aims to unite women during this difficult and isolating time. It’s a way to share on our experiences, provide insights into our current lives and ways in which we are all managing, in the hopes that as a collective, we can stay connected from our homes and help one another through this. Share your experience
Andie is not only a close friend but is also the founder of the coveted Vinny Yoga, a comprehensive yoga directory aimed to help you discover and expand your yoga practice. Throughout this difficult time, Andie has created an incredible ‘Vinny at-Home’ series, were she has rounded up some of Melbourne’s best teachers to deliver you free 15-30min practices every day! We spoke to Andie about her day-to-day and finding her new normal during this time.
How are you? I’m hanging in there. I definitely have my moments where I feel hopeful and motivated, then other moments where I feel defeated and pretty down. I’m finding the uncertainty the most challenging part – the not knowing when this strange time will end and when we’ll all start to rebuild.
Tell us where you are and what you can see? I am in bed, on my laptop (Bad yogi, I know). I can see my outdoor patio and a bright blue sky. My cat Alfie is also sleeping on the bed near my feet.
What are you reading? I’m reading ‘Why I’m No Longer Talking to White People About Race’ by Reni Eddo-Lodge. I’m also constantly referencing Jo Buick’s ‘Rest’ course manual as it has so many helpful embodied practices to find ease and restoration in daily life.
What are you listening to? Podcasts: Teaching Yoga with Cora Geroux
Playlists: Spotify- Keys Playlist
What are you watching? MEMES. SO. MANY. MEMES. Follow @memezar Also @goodnews_movement and @animalsdoingthings to warm the heart.
What are you wearing day to day? Usually a pair of leggings and an oversized t-shirt or sweater. Basically my PJs!
Have you implemented some structure to your day? Or are you taking it a day at a time? For the most part…consistent meal times and sleep times are super important for me. As well as a mid-day long walk.
How are you keeping busy? Mostly work and catching up with friends over a virtual wine or virtual boogie when I can.
Are you doing any at-home workouts? Yes! Vinny at Home 🙂 https://www.vinnyyoga.com/vinny-at-home As well as some HIIT workouts on YouTube.
How are you staying positive? Knowing that this is temporary and we’ll adapt as best we can.
How are you practicing self care? What are you doing to look after your mental health? Meditation, yoga, self-massage.
What are you most grateful for right now? That my basic needs are not at risk – food, shelter, support system.
What are you most hopeful for? That this time gives all of us a chance to step back and self-reflect. A lot of good always comes out of reflection.
What has been the most unexpected blessing that has come out of this for you? The chance to bring the yoga community closer here in Melbourne.
Are there any goals you have set yourself? Take a new route or path anytime I go outside for a walk.
What are you most looking forward to in the future? Freedom and travel.

Heya, it’s Andie. Here’s my mug coming at you to send a BIG THANKS to those that tuned into our Vinny at Home series this past week. It was so fun to see everyone posting and sharing their practices! Definitely keep them coming. The videos are available on our YouTube channel for you to stream and re-stream whenever you like, for free. Access them through the LINK IN OUR BIO. Also, ENDLESS LOVE goes out to each of the 10 teachers that shared their teachings with us. If you loved practicing with any of these teachers, please continue to follow their online offerings and if you’re in a position to, support them financially by paying to practice with them. Part 2 of Vinny at Home is in the works (because who doesn’t love an encore?!), so if you have any special requests, be sure to leave a comment below and I’ll see what I can do. Until then, stay safe and be well. ♥️
